PACHA ANECCA PROJECT
PACHA is partnering with the African Network for the Care of Children Affected by HIV/AIDS (ANECCA) and funded by The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Malawi is one of the 7 countries in the African Region selected for this project because of its low coverage of antiretroviral treatment (ART) for children and adolescents living with HIV, compared to adults. This desk review was one of the complementary methods employed to collect secondary data in addition to the primary research whose results will be described elsewhere.

This desk review was one of the complementary methods employed to collect secondary data in addition to the primary research whose results will be described elsewhere.
PACHA, led by Dr Ajib Phiri, carried out a desk review of policies, strategies and guidelines at national level. The content of these documents was then reviewed against the World Health Organization (WHO) 2014 guidelines documents on ART for people living with HIV.
The review identified gaps in the management of children and adolescents. that need to be addressed in order to ensure improved ART coverage of children and adolescents living with HIV.
The next step is to advocate in order to ensure improved ART coverage of children and adolescents living with HIV.
